Declick

Repair very short impulsive spikes.

The algorithm uses a 64-sample look-ahead and repairs flagged runs of at most 32 samples. It is not a recovery method for long dropouts.

01 / Understand

The idea, before the settings.

Declick detects unusually sharp changes and interpolates very short flagged runs. Its 64-sample look-ahead repairs runs up to 32 samples; it is not for long dropouts.

Crackling sourceDeclickOutput

Use it in AudioRouter

  1. Loop a passage containing an isolated unwanted click and wanted sharp sounds.
  2. Start at Threshold 50%, then lower it gradually if the click remains.
  3. Raise Threshold if consonants or percussion become dull.

What success looks like

Exceptional short impulses are reduced while ordinary attacks remain recognizable.

If it does not work

Persistent gaps, clipping or driver dropouts require fixing the source; a click repair tool cannot reconstruct missing passages.

Select the node to open Properties. Click its name to rename it. While playing, supported parameter-only edits save after a short pause. For structural edits, use Save when the canvas marks a change. Enabled and Bypass are distinct live controls; see the in-app help for their behavior.

02 / Explore

Make the behavior visible.

Several short injected impulses interrupt synthetic phrases. The lesson repairs only those known impulses when they cross the threshold; it does not reproduce the engine's detector.

The example repeats until you press Stop, and control changes are heard immediately. The picture shows the tool's shape rather than time; follow the timing in Follow the sound below. This is not a DSP measurement or control for your running AudioRouter session.

Every control, with a reason.

↓ Lower / alternativeDetects more subtle clicks.

↑ Higher / alternativeRequires a more prominent spike, so detects fewer clicks.

Try thisLower 50% to 30% cautiously when a known click remains.

Keep in mind Too sensitive a setting can affect wanted sharp sounds.

04 / Put it to work

Start with a useful example.

Example 1

Remove isolated crackles

  1. Begin at Threshold 50%.
  2. Lower it gradually while replaying the same click.
  3. Check consonants and percussion for unwanted softening.
Example 2

Protect sharp wanted sound

  1. If drum hits or speech consonants soften, raise Threshold.
  2. Compare the same short passage with bypass.

These are starting points. Compare at a comfortable monitoring level and adjust for your own source.

05 / Get unstuck

Small details that matter.

  • Lower threshold means more detection, not less.
  • Long crackles and missing blocks may exceed the repair window.
