Virtual Render Source

Bring an app playback stream from an installed AudioRouter cable into the graph.

Receives samples an external app plays into the selected cable.

01 / Understand

The idea, before the settings.

A cable has a playback side chosen as a speaker and a recording side chosen as a microphone.

App plays to cable renderVirtual Render SourceAudioRouter route

Use it in AudioRouter

  1. Install/enable the intended cable using Virtual Cables and identify its render/capture names.
  2. In the sending app, choose the cable's render endpoint as playback.
  3. Choose that cable source in AudioRouter, connect processing/output, Save and Play.

What success looks like

Audio sent by the app to the cable becomes an AudioRouter input. Direction is from app playback into the route.

If it does not work

Confirm the cable identity and sending app's playback selection; similarly named physical endpoints are not the same cable.

Select the node to open Properties. Click its name to rename it. While playing, supported parameter-only edits save after a short pause. For structural edits, use Save when the canvas marks a change. Enabled and Bypass are distinct live controls; see the in-app help for their behavior.

02 / Explore

Make the behavior visible.

The direction diagram explains the Windows/app boundary without installing or opening a virtual device.

This animated diagram is conceptual. It is not a DSP measurement or control for your running AudioRouter session.

03 / Configure

Every control, with a reason.

Select the installed cable whose playback side receives your app audio.

Range / choicesDepends on your selectionDefaultChoose explicitly

Try thisChoose Cable A, then select its shown playback name as the game speaker.

Keep in mind The driver must be installed and available; the picker cannot create a missing cable.

04 / Put it to work

Start with a useful example.

Example 1

App to processing

  1. Choose an installed cable in Properties.
  2. Choose the shown speaker name in the source application.
  3. Connect this source to tools and an intended destination. Save and Play.
Example 2

Check the two sides

  1. Read the side name shown by Properties.
  2. Match playback to an app speaker and capture to an app microphone.
  3. Use meters to confirm audio before changing other settings.

These are starting points. Compare at a comfortable monitoring level and adjust for your own source.

05 / Get unstuck

Small details that matter.

  • The cable picker refers to installed driver capabilities; it is not an install action.
  • Do not connect source and destination through the same cable in a feedback loop.
