Virtual Capture Sink

Deliver a graph branch to an installed AudioRouter cable for another app to record.

Sends this branch to the selected cable recording side.

01 / Understand

The idea, before the settings.

A cable has a playback side chosen as a speaker and a recording side chosen as a microphone.

AudioRouter routeVirtual Capture SinkApp microphone input

Use it in AudioRouter

  1. Choose the intended installed cable sink in AudioRouter and wire your processed branch to it.
  2. In the receiving app, choose that cable's capture endpoint as its microphone/input.
  3. Save and Play the route, then check the receiving app's input meter.

What success looks like

Processed AudioRouter audio appears as input to the other app. It does not automatically play through speakers.

If it does not work

If the app hears the raw microphone, change that app's selected input to the cable capture endpoint.

Select the node to open Properties. Click its name to rename it. While playing, supported parameter-only edits save after a short pause. For structural edits, use Save when the canvas marks a change. Enabled and Bypass are distinct live controls; see the in-app help for their behavior.

02 / Explore

Make the behavior visible.

The diagram teaches route-to-app direction. It does not access your apps or alter Windows defaults.

This animated diagram is conceptual. It is not a DSP measurement or control for your running AudioRouter session.

03 / Configure

Every control, with a reason.

Select the installed cable whose recording side should expose this branch.

Range / choicesDepends on your selectionDefaultChoose explicitly

Try thisChoose Cable B, then select its shown recording name as the chat microphone.

Keep in mind The driver must be installed and available; the picker cannot create a missing cable.

04 / Put it to work

Start with a useful example.

Example 1

Processed voice to chat

  1. Connect your voice chain to this sink.
  2. Choose an installed cable. Save and Play.
  3. Choose the shown microphone name in the receiving app.
Example 2

Check the two sides

  1. Read the side name shown by Properties.
  2. Match playback to an app speaker and capture to an app microphone.
  3. Use meters to confirm audio before changing other settings.

These are starting points. Compare at a comfortable monitoring level and adjust for your own source.

05 / Get unstuck

Small details that matter.

  • The cable picker refers to installed driver capabilities; it is not an install action.
  • Do not connect source and destination through the same cable in a feedback loop.
